Marble. An Investment in Beauty

Architects and designers today are discovering countless creative applications for marble, and marble that is properly maintained will enhance the beauty and value of your home or business for years to come.

Unfortunately, new marble is raw and unprotected and is very susceptible to staining and marring from heavy foot traffic. For this reason it is wise to protect your investment from the start.

Don't Take YOUR Marble for Granite

There are correct and incorrect methods for maintaining each specific type of marble, (and there are hundreds of types!). While improper maintenance may give the desired appearance, it can cause deterioration which may go unnoticed for years...after it's too late.

The most typical failing of these methods concerns the use of waxes, polymers and synthetic finishes, which are used to coat the marble with a durable film. Unfortunately, the harsh alkalinity of strippers needed to take them off causes efflorescence, which will deteriorate the marble.

Continued use of these outdated techniques will eventually damage your marble so extensively that costly replacement will become your only option. In essence your investment becomes a liability.

Fortunately, Nu Life has combined modern technology and space age materials to create a stone care system that makes sense! Whether your stone is old or new, the New-Life system offers you a safe, beautiful, durable surface which enhances the value and enjoyment of your precious dimensional stone!

The Nu Life Stone Care System for Marble Restoration and Preservation

1. Initially, a grinding process takes place. The amount of grinding is determined by a number of factors, such as age and color of the marble, depth of scratches, traffic wear, acid etching, and lippage.

2. Secondly, the marble is sealed with a high tech penetrating sealer. This sealer will not change the appearance of the marble and is virtually 100% vapor transmittable. This means while sealing out the unwanted (dirt, water, oils and other potential stains) it will still allow the marble to breathe naturally. This process also adds density to the marble which will improve resistance to scratching.

3. Finally, the polishing process which can be any number of techniques based on the type of stone. If the stone is suitable, Nu Life can chemically transform, or "recrystallize" the calcium carbonate in the top level of the marble into a halogen derivative, hardening the stone in much the same way fluoride hardens tooth enamel. This surface lasts many months longer than any polymer or synthetic coating, is slip resistant, and will never require stripping. (Important Note: Step 3 may very depending on the mineral composition of your stone).

How Does It All Add Up?

The end result of the Nu Life process is a super durable floor which is more cost efficient to maintain, with a shine that is in most cases, deeper than the original finish applied to new marble at the quarry.
